Birding Excursion
The Klamath Bird Observatory recently led a group of 20 community members, educators and childrenĀ to the Seven Mile Guard Station. The group made use of new educational kits, which included everything that young students need to explore birding out in the field. The trip visited a bird banding station and viewed a demonstration of how birds may be caught, banded and released safely. This is the first of three planned excursions. Additionally, an open house is scheduled in the fall to familiarize teachers with the program which, while designed for elementary and middle school children, can easily be adapted for high school students. The excursion was featured in a recent article in the Klamath Falls’ Herald and News.
