Nature Center Awarded $3,000 Grant
The North Mountain Park Nature Center recently received a $3,000 grant to fund a mist-netting and bird banding station. The nature center, which has partnered with the Klamath Bird Observatory, will use the information generated by this program to evaluate the effectiveness of habitat restoration in the area. Riparian habitats, or those that are situated at the edges of streams, are an important habitat for songbirds, as they provide breeding locations and stops for migrating birds. These ongoing efforts were discussed in a short article in the Ashland Daily Tidings.
