At Klamath Bird Observatory, travel is more than a trip. It is a way to deepen your connection to birds and the landscapes they depend on. Our small-group, conservation focused journeys are led by expert guides and designed to inspire, educate, and directly support our mission. Every itinerary blends birding with cultural experiences, and every registration helps fund vital research and habitat restoration.

Brazil – Atlantic Forest Adventure
Trip Overview
Join Klamath Bird Observatory and Mantiqueira Bird Observatory for a 10-day adventure in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, September 3–12, 2026. This immersive trip blends birdwatching, hiking, and cultural exploration while supporting international bird conservation. Proceeds help fund a biologist exchange program between observatories. Limited to 12 participants, with lodging, meals, and in-country transport included.

Bear Divide – California Migration Hotspot
Trip Overview
Experience spring migration like never before at Bear Divide, one of the western U.S.’s premier daylight birding hotspots. Join Klamath Bird Observatory’s Dr. Ryan Terrill for guided morning outings through this narrow mountain pass, where thousands of songbirds funnel through each day. The trip includes meals, transportation, expert-led excursions, and a special presentation, with proceeds supporting the on-site banding station. Optional afternoon outings and a Pasadena parrot tour round out this immersive avian adventure.

Your participation directly funds KBO’s science and professional education programs. For example, the Brazil trip sustains OAMa’s and KBO’s internship exchange program, while Bear Divide supports migration monitoring and community outreach.
