In 2018, a diverse, tri-national group of conservationists, including KBO’s Executive Director John Alexander, were recognized for their effective collaboration as part of the Western Hummingbird Partnership (WHP).

KBO was recognized for its work in promoting awareness of birds and conservation through participation in International Migratory Bird Day. We have participated in International Migratory Bird Day (now known as World Migratory Bird Day) through regional festivals, bird banding demonstrations, and bird walks since the event’s (and KBO’s) beginning.
KBO received the Oregon Governor’s Volunteer Award in 2014. For recognition of our long-running Student Volunteer Internship Program. The awards recognize the important work done throughout Oregon by volunteers, and the positive change they make in our communities.
