YOBIRD, a KBO summer FUNdraiser

On July 11th, join Lisa Michelbrink and other KBO Board members at Grizzly Peak Winery for this KBO FUNdrasing event. We will start with a gentle yoga session under the oak trees, led by Board President and yoga teacher, Shannon Rio. We will then take a bird walk on the winery grounds. To finish the morning we will share light refreshments and conversation.

KBO’s 2021-2022 FUNdraising Campaign Begins!

Klamath Bird Observatory’s fundraising effort has a new, exciting format this year: with no fundraising Gala in 2020 or 2021, KBO’s Board members are stepping up, as individuals, to offer you a variety of smaller group events. These are events that we think many of you will enjoy. Board members will be hosting nearly a dozen recreational and educational gatherings with different themes. Think of these not so much as events but more as “parties.”

Join us Tuesday, June 22nd for an evening presentation. BIRDING BEYOND BORDERS celebrates the international work of KBO and how it has brought people from all over the globe as interns to study bird banding, science and how to protect migratory birds. KBO Special Webinar: Learn to Animate Snoopy with former PEANUTS Director Larry Leichliter

Klamath Bird Observatory is proud to present this special webinar with KBO Board Member, former PEANUTS director, and accomplished animator Larry Leichliter. During Larry’s live-action tutorial, you can try your hand at creating a simple animation of Snoopy, the lovable canine character from the PEANUTS cartoon, and his feathered pal Woodstock. Tickets are available for a donation in the amount of your choosing. Suggested Donation: $10.00.

KBO Community Education: “Learning the Language of Birds” Virtually, and Birding at North Mountain Park with Shannon Rio

Spring has arrived and it’s a great time to deepen your connection with the world of birds as they nest, feed, migrate, and fill the air with sounds. On April 26th, Shannon Rio will present a virtual talk, “Learning the Language of Birds.” Then on May 1st, Shannon will lead a group of 10 people on a bird walk through North Mountain Park to look and listen for birds. KBO Community Education: “Stories from the Field” with Klamath Bird Observatory and ScienceWorks Museum

Klamath Bird Observatory and ScienceWorks Museum gladly present “Stories from the Field.” In this live virtual talk, a panel of avian scientists will share fun and exciting tales from their adventures working in the field, followed by Q&A from the audience. ScienceWorks Museum Program Manager Leah Ruby will be our host. Bring your questions and curiosity and be ready for the unexpected! KBO Community Education with Shannon Rio: Understanding Bird Migration at the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge

On February 22nd, Shannon Rio will tell stories about some of the birds that migrate through Lower Klamath and Tulelake National Wildlife Refuges, where she and her husband Kirk are regular visitors. In this virtual presentation you’ll see beautiful photographs, hear fun facts, and gain a sense of what birds you might see there any month of the year. Shannon will also share how you can get to her favorite areas of the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex, and where to explore when you arrive. Shannon Rio Presents KBO’s Community Education Winter Series (2021)

Cozy up and have fun this winter connecting with the birds! Shannon Rio will present four unique, interactive virtual events about our feathered friends via Zoom in January and February, 2021. At each event someone in the audience will win a gift certificate to a local Ashland business! You can choose to sign up for one or more of the events in the series. No previous bird knowledge is necessary and all are welcome!
